History of this Charity

In his Will dated 13 th February 1720 John Wilkinson stated that the interest from one hundred pounds and the remainder of his personal estate shall “cause to be taught with reading and writing sixteen poor children” eight to be chosen out of the parish of Rasen Drax and eight out of the parish of Rasen Tupholme.

Over the years many things have changed and been updated. The charity is closely associated with the Middle Rasen Primary School and when the school sign was renewed, the trustees were very pleased that the link to John Wilkinson was recognised. The charity is there to help pupils and to provide extras by request, that may not normally be funded by the statutory authority.
